8 year old girl saves family during home invasion!
 

I just wanted to post this because I was there during all this, as it happened on my beat at work. This little 8 year old was brave enough to hide and call police while two THUGS were committing a home invasion on their house, and while they were upstairs threatening to KILL the family, sticking their guns in the mouths of the victims telling them they would kill them, and ransacking the place, she was calm enough to tell dispatch exactly where she lived, what the THUGS were doing, and was even brave enough to run out to unlock the front door when police arrived, within eyesight of the thugs upstairs!

I had to shake this little girls hand, as she is a true hero in my mind. I'm just glad it worked out the way it did! I can't believe this but this actually made national news on AOL.com. Please take the time to read it, it only takes a few minutes.

BTW, this happened in a very high end neighborhood, with little to no previous crime. Goes to show you that you can't ever be too catious.

If so, do you see more federalization of the local PD, like I see it here in San Jose Cali?

I am witnessing the overt transformation of local peace officers into militarized federal automatons, and I can only hope that you are among the former group.

I am going to put you on the spot:

How do you react when FBI, BATFE or IRS shows up, tells you that a dangerous federal criminal resides in your midst, and then enlists your aid in serving an arrest/search warrant?

Does anyone within your department actually take the time to verify, or even defend the rights of the local taxpaying citizen, or do you excitedly grab the PASGT and the AR and yell "Hoora!" as you prepare to raid the badguy?

hmmm... and I thought this was a forum for the free exchange of ideas and information? My bad

and we are so lucky to have a "mr helper" in our midsts, Thanks Sky. I guess you obviously think that Mike cant answer on his own and needs your help.

I too would like to have some inside info about any federalization of our local police departments... Since we pay the wages we should be allowed the info... even if Sky thinks he is a gate Keeper here?

I think it's a great story and I applaud the little girl's bravery. I'm always glad to hear when law enforcement is acting on behalf of the defense of citizens, however. Had the parents been armed in the first place, the little girl may have never been placed in such a dangerous position as the mediator between the thugs and the cops. That's the parent's duty.

For all we know, Mike could be an upstanding guy, and being on this forum gives him an extra brownie point!
I know for the most part people on the forum hate cops, but do not assume all cops are like the few we see in the news beating an innocent person or tasing a grandma. You must take it on a case by case basis.
